Co-housing: a setup where families or individuals live in private separate dwellings, but have access to shared space such as a ‘communal space or house’ which could include:

  • extra guest bedrooms

  • group kitchen

  • clothes washers/dryers

  • Games room

  • Wellbeing facilities e.g. sauna / hot tub

  • Add ‘community living - any mix of co-living and co-housing as define by the inhabitants and conformation of the community

Co-living: a residential community living model that accommodates three or more biologically unrelated people living in the same dwelling unit. It generally provides shared housing for people with similar values or intentions, offering amenities and activities designed to foster a sense of community and belonging.

Community Living: people who live together, either in one building or complex, or as a strong socially linked group. Could be anything from a shared flat to a village.

Intentional community: a group of people who have chosen to live together with a common purpose, working cooperatively to create a lifestyle that reflects their shared core values. Members may live together on a piece of rural land, in a suburban home, or in an urban neighbourhood, and they may share a single residence or live in a cluster of dwellings. These communities often aim to foster a high degree of social cohesion and teamwork, and members typically unite around shared values, beliefs, or a common vision. The purpose of these communities can be political, religious, spiritual, or simply focused on the practical benefits of cooperation and mutual support.
